Intent

At its core Moore House is all
about creative and functional design

While our bespoke, full-service interior design firm is based in New York City and Rhode Island, our Aussie/American team travels all over the United States for projects. We work with homeowners to design residential properties and partner with architects and contractors to bring homes and boutique hotels to life.

With a philosophy informed by our respect for historical architecture, our intention is to design with out-of-the-box creativity while staying true to the original character of a structure. We create cohesive interiors that focus on function while layering organic and sustainable elements that bring depth and sculpture into your space. We think like architects but blend structure with design and comfort, taking a holistic approach throughout your home.

Blair Moore is the Principal and Founder of Moore House Design. Her designs are rooted in the authenticity of craft. Focusing on interiors that feel gathered and collected from all corners of the globe. Blair’s creative approach embraces interior architecture, custom elements, and furnishings as one conversation. Blair’s work has been published in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, New York Times, Wallstreet Journal, and New England Home. Blair has also been named the “5 under 40” award from New England Home in 2024 for top up-and-coming Interior Design firms.

SUSTAINABILITY

Moore House was founded on the ideas of reducing, reusing, and restoring. We design with non toxic and green paints, sealants, flooring, and furnishing—with a focus on  not bringing VOCs into your home. In each property, we aim to reduce waste by reusing organic materials and restoring historic properties, down to organic fabric and bedding.

HISTORY

For us, a house dictates the design. The home’s history and architecture end up being a guiding force in our process, informing the shapes, hardware, and colors. We believe in synergistic design, so we want the interiors to feel related to the physical structure while also introducing modernity and reflecting our client’s lifestyle.

FUNCTION

When design and function merge, that’s when a house becomes a home. One of the first questions we answer is how our client’s lifestyles affect the use of their spaces. From there we create a space that’s full of functional details from built-in cabinetry to a harder working floor plan. We’re always designing for longevity.
